Sometimes it’s hard to buy the perfect gift for someone. That’s why I love this project! A candy bouquet is totally customizable to anyone. And if you need just something small, grab a bag of mini size candy bars. I looked for candy that had a wrapper that could have a skewer glued to it.
For the mini bouquet, I used a metal bucket with flowers embossed on it. And for the large bouquet, I went with a cardboard gift basket tray. The one I used was similar to this but a bit smaller. A large tray would work awesome for a giant bouquet. Just make sure it has a wide bottom to balance out the candy. I then hot glued a piece of floral foam in the bottom of my containers. The foam I used is like this.
Long wooden BBQ skewers worked the best. You can find some here.
I went with an assortment of candy for colorful wrappers. I wanted half chocolate and half not chocolate. I liked how the different wrapper colors brightened up the bouquet. You can snag some candy here and here for the full size and here and here for the mini one.
I measured how deep the container was because I wanted the bottom of the wrapper just above the foam so I could add shredded paper later to cover the foam. I then started with the longest candies and glued on the skewers. My bouquet was only going to be seen from the front and not all directions, so I placed the larger candies in back and the smaller candies in front. If you wanted your bouquet to be pretty from all sides, place the larger candies in the middle and work your way out with the different sizes. I was careful to mix the different color wrappers and glued some of the labels one way and other the other way. Just to give it visual interest.
For the mini bouquet I started with gummy bears. They had a flat side and I wanted it toward the back. I love gummy bears, do you?
I had to break the skewers for some of the smaller candies so they didn’t have sticks sticking out the back. Go for balance as you place each candy.
Here’s a closeup so you can see how far above the end of each candy came above the foam.
Oh, they’re so pretty and colorful! I can’t wait to share them with family and friends.
On the mini bouquets, I ended up gluing some AirHeads up tall so the they could be seen behind the gummy bears. I like the different heights in the layers. Add some shredded paper and you’re ready for the party.
Here’s how the full size one turned out. Happy bouquet making!
